assistant manager internship

we are excited to offer internships at kizikula. the role will work alongside our leadership and Creative Director shehab hamad on a wide range of high-impact projects including:

• assistant manager role

  • this is a hands-on high-responsibility role to assist leadership in running all aspects of kizikula

• guest relations and communications

• evolve the menu's at kizikula by working closely with the kitchen and restaurant teams and elevating our offerings to be always grounded in zanzibar traditions, tanzanian produce, but to reach for the best of what is offered globally in terms of presentation, creativity, nutrition and to develop our language for communicating our offerings with guests.

• optimize our operating processes including:

  • guest-relations and happiness
  • stock management and inventory
  • people and culture
  • housekeeping
  • permaculture farm and kitchen collaboration

• create the 'guest-experiences' handbook that is a cool, custom, creative, menu of offerings for our guests to do while they stay with us. these will surely include things like:

  • diving
  • snorkeling
  • kite-surfing (in paje)
  • jozani forest hikes
  • spice farm tour
  • stone town tours
  • seaweed farm tours

  but we want to find the best, and maybe less covered, gems of zanzibar, whilst also developing fun things to do for our guests in our neighborhood, working with local villages, businesses, and residents.

• assisting to develop our opening of Phase II - both of our rooms and our public spaces, especially:

  • spa
  • f&b outlets
  • newly installed tent
  • individual rooms (nargis, natasha, samira)
  • family units

  all the while working with the best craftspeople and furniture makers in Tanzania

• assist with our recycling and sustainable initiatives, green key certification

• organize the next artist residency

the offer

dates: any 6 month starting from summer 2025

details:

we will put you up in our team housing, which is less than a five min walk away from kizikula (and we will put you up in our guest rooms when they are available), we will organize activities around the island for you (including spice farm tours, a night in stone town with tour of the UNESCO world heritage site), trips to our farm suppliers on the island, farmer's markets, dolphin tours, and more.
